hazy islands
drifting out to sea
on the ebbing day
walking in the sun
a bird’s shadow
swoops through mine
camp kitchen –
watching someone else’s
pot boil
by the lake
two suns
in my eyes
spring-cleaning –
the spiders climb back
to spotless corners
the ascending scale
as the nail
is hammered home
bright day –
stirring the sun
into my paintpot
muggy heat mytoffeessticktogether
evening calm –
duck’s wake
the width of the estuary
holiday cottage –
next door’s rowdy
tuis
