NZPS Poetry Services

The New Zealand Poetry Society offers services to the public in the following areas.

Poetry Advisory Service

We offer a Poetry Advisory Service to provide writers of poetry with a written critique from an experienced poet on a sample of their work. This is a support service for any poets who wish to develop their work, including non-members. The service provides focused and constructive feedback from an individual member of a panel of experienced and published New Zealand poets selected for their proven teaching skills.

We’re always on the lookout for suitably qualified members who would be available to provide this service. You can register your interest by emailing info@poetrysociety.org.nz.

Rent a Poet

Our members are periodically available for readings, workshops, visits to schools, or other public appearances, and we add their names here. If you’re interested in being available for this very thing, send us an email at info@poetrysociety.org.nz.

Joanna Preston
After three years in the UK, with an MPhil in Creative Writing from the University of Glamorgan to show for it, Joanna has a particular interest in formal poetry and haiku, and UK poetry in general. Available for workshops, seminars, readings, editing and judging. You can email her at preston.joanna@gmail.com.

Visit Joanna Preston’s website and visit the Haibun Today website to read a haibun by Joanna.

Poetry advice

We offer advice on getting published, along with a list of publishers in New Zealand that are open to receiving submissions. We also offer advice on avoiding scam poetry competitions and publishing opportunities.
