October 2021: Everyone still hanging in there, I hope? Life seems to have reduced a little bit in New Zealand over the past couple of months as Auckland toughs out a long lockdown and the rest of us are stuck at Level 2 and are now well used to wearing our masks in indoor public spaces.
This month’s article by Lew Watts is an endorsement of the clever way haiku can say much with only a few words. Inspiration perhaps to send off a few entries using the Contest listings, which are now running through to the end of the year. Note that a couple of Japanese contests due to close at the end of September, have extended into October.
Don’t forget that Haiku North America is a virtual event this year and registration is free. Details are at the bottom of the Haiku Happenings page.
If you’ve been writing heaps during lockdown and would like to try some new outlets for your work, why not peruse the Publications page?
