Haiku NewZ July

July 2021: In the middle of last month news arrived that Ernest J Berry had died, for some time a towering figure in New Zealand haiku and a well-known name internationally. Tributes to Ernie may be found on the Haiku Happenings page. Also on this page is a link to a lovely video presentation by American haijin John Stevenson and details about three upcoming haiku workshops in the North Island.

The two workshops in the Western Bay of Plenty are designed to support those intending to enter this year’s Katikati Haiku Contest. Yes, the contest is back after cancelling last year – and to celebrate the Katikati Haiku Pathway’s 21st birthday, entry will be free. Go to the Contest listings, updated to the end of September, to find the details.

This month’s article by Sandra Simpson looks at the topic of urban haiku. If you’re looking for some reading material or would like to spend some time with articles previously published here, please go to the index of Archived Articles; or try out the index for Websites & Resources, which includes links to Youtube videos.
