Tower Room Storytelling | 11am – 11.45am

Be part of this interactive storytelling event lead by our talented storyteller, Danny Still. Discover the magical history behind the Moon Festival. Meet at the Tower Room.

Screen Printing Workshop | 11am – 12.30pm

Be inspired by the legend of the Moon Festival by taking part in a screen printing workshop. Suitable for ages 8 – 12 | $10 per child, maximum eight per class. Bookings are essential.

A Celebration of Chinese Culture | 12.30pm – 3pm

Traditionally the Moon Festival is the time for family gatherings where entertainment, food and games are enjoyed together. Celebrate this traditional Chinese festival with performances in the Courtyard, play games and eat delicious moon cakes. Normal admission charges apply.

Moon Festival Poetry Competition

27 August 2017 – 15 October 2017

This year we invite you to help us celebrate the Chinese Moon Festival by writing a poem based on the theme Once In A Blue Moon

There are three age categories Children (5–12); Teens (13–19); Adults (20+). Prizes will be awarded for first and second place in each category.

First prize in the Adult category is a $150 book shop voucher; second prize is a $75 voucher. First prize in the Teen category is a $80 voucher; second prize is a $40 voucher. First prize in the Child category is a $50 voucher; second prize is a $30 voucher. All prize winners will also receive an Annual Pass to the Garden worth $20.

The winning poems will be published here on the Dunedin Chinese Garden’s website.
