Dear Canterbury Poets Collective,
I am writing to you on behalf of the Ashburton Art Gallery to invite your group to a poetry reading and talk at the Gallery in conjunction with our upcoming exhibition Young Country by Kerry Hines. This exhibition will open at the Ashburton Art Gallery on Sunday the 10th of September at 2pm. We are thrilled to be hosting Wellington-based Kerry Hines along with photographer Wayne Barrar who reproduced the photographs for this exhibition.
Following the formalities of the exhibition opening Kerry will speak about her research on ninetieth-century photographer William Williams who her writing and exhibition was inspired by.
As well as being a poet and writer, Kerry is a researcher with particular interest in photographic histories. Her work is published in numerous literary journals, including Millionaire’s Shortbread (2003), and has a PhD in creative writing from Victoria University.
This event will be a great opportunity for your group to gain insight to another writer’s work. There will also be the opportunity for you to ask Kerry questions and to gain further insight into her writing methods and techniques. We hope you are able to attend and take part in this event.
The exhibition will be on display at the Gallery until the 5th of November 2017. If you would like to hold a discussion meeting in conjunction with this exhibition or for one of the Gallery staff to give you a guided tour of the exhibition, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us.
We look forward to seeing you soon.
