a fine line – Intern Editor
First published in 2006 a fine line is the flagship poetry magazine of the New Zealand Poetry Society. It features poems by members and the broader poetry community as well as articles on the craft of poetry and news about poetry events and opportunities in New Zealand.
We are looking for a student or recent graduate in Creative Writing or publishing to work alongside our professional editor as an Intern Editor.
Purpose of role
The role of the “Intern – a fine line” is to assist the Managing Editor and provide an opportunity for an emerging poet or publisher to gain editorial experience working alongside a professional editor.
Key responsibilities
Assisting the Managing Editor with the sourcing and critiquing of submissions. This includes:
Liaising with contributors via email.
Collating current opportunities and regular events from the NZPS website and FaceBook page for inclusion in the magazine.
Actively soliciting contributions via the NZPS website, FaceBook page and other avenues.
Reviewing and contributing contributions
Posting reviews and poems on the NZPS website after publication.
Key skills and experience
The intern must have a passion for New Zealand Poetry and be proficient in MS Word. Ideally they will be a student or recent graduate from a Creative Writing or Publishing programme.
Term
This position is for 4 editions May 2017, August 2017, November 2017 and February 2018.
Payment
The intern will receive an honorarium of $250 per edition.
